The Grandeur of Rio de Janeiro Carnival

The Brazilian carnival at Rio de Janiero is an annual celebration held forty six days before Easter. Roman Catholics traditionally abstain from consuming meats and poultry during the season of Lent, a practice which gives the term “carnival” to the festival celebration. The celebration is rooted from the pagan festival of Saturnalia. Now it reflects the practice of repentance and preparing for the death of Christ and his resurrection.

The Rio de Janeiro Carnival is one of the most sought after festivals in the world. I have travelled around the world and have seen some sorts of festive celebrations but nothing can be compared with the grandeur of the Brazilian festival. People are dancing everywhere in high spirits and the street party never ends. People wear colorful costumes and are dancing to the beat of Samba music on the streets and you can’t help but dance as well. The official grand parade is one with fascinating street dancing shows and people are free to dance along. Minor parades are also held in other cities. The carnival is influenced by the African–Brazilian culture which is a good subject to write for essays in college. Highlighting the Rio de Janeiro Carnival in the best custom essay would make the research paper more interesting to read. Participating in the carnival is one of the best experiences I have. Block parades are also held everywhere in the neighborhood and metropolitan areas giving an all-day street festivities full of fun and dancing stunts.
